Took both Smudge and Mitsi to the vet yesterday and both got clean bill of health. :) Both had to get a Bordatello shot but poor Smudge also needed his distemper and parvo along with some blood drawn for a heartworm check. I asked them to also express Mitsi's anal glands as she had been scooting around the rugs a bit. I also asked the vet how old she figured Mits was. I didn't think she was as young as the rescue had claimed and I was right. :) She put her at almost 3, which is Smudge's age too. Smudge's teeth were perfect, no problem there but Mitsi has some buildup on her back teeth. I'll make an appointment next month for a cleaning and also to get her micro-chipped.
She behaved ok in the car but wanted to get up in the front with me. No can do, my pooches must remain in the back. If I got hit or hit something I could end up squishing Mits between me and the air bag. Not a good thing. She does have a strange cry, something between a yowling cat and a human baby!
I talked to a guy in the waiting room who had a Basengi! I've only seen them on tv and in books so a live one was novel. :) Such a pretty dog too. He was telling me how he had gotten him from the breeder who had originally sold him to a couple in Georgia. After just 2 weeks they decided they didn't want him so they sent him back...in the original crate! A pup does a lot of growing in 2 weeks so when the pup did come he couldn't even stand up! (Some people just shouldn't own anything other than a pet rock)
Mitsi is settling down nicely here. I think she was so nervous in the car because of being abandoned, then
leaving the foster home where she had lived for 4 months. I wish I could tell her this is her forever home and she will never be abandoned again!
